From an e-mail received from Doug Johns, of Doug Johns Marine Services, Nth Brighton
"The H25 “Woodstock” of which a few photos are posted on the forum, was owned by my father from 1979 to 1985.
During that time , it lived at RBYC with sail number B63. My father bought it from the first owner; a guy called Ken Wood (hence the name) who kept it at Mornington YC.
Funnily enough, Ken Wood ended up having built a very nice Holland ¾ ton IOR called “Moonlighter” which ended up at RMYS for a few years. It is now pretty much a wreck I think for sale at RGYC.
I think “Woodstock” was only about 12 months old when my dad bought it. It was just a wonderful yacht, we spent all of January’s on it at Queenscliff CYC.
I remember also, as probably a 10 year old, visiting Doug Sharpin's factory with my dad to see them being built. I must say I am surprised that not more than 150 were built; they seem to be everywhere. Nonetheless, I am sure any production boat builder in Australia today would be absolutely ecstatic to build 150 of one design.
In 1985 approx., my dad sold the yacht to Murray McCutcheon who I know kept it for many many years at RMYS and had much racing success with it.
My dad bought a Farr 1104 from Geelong, which he still owns and sails weekly from RBYC. The Farr 1104 is in some ways like a 36’ Holland 25; huge beam and of course wonderful sailing manners.
By the way, I also did a couple of Twilight series on an H25 called “Nereus” a few years ago. It was at RBYC at that stage with an owner called Daniel Jeffrey.
I believe it is now at RGYC. I think it must have been a very early build, as little of the later GRP furniture mouldings existed in the cabin.
It was great to sail on an H25 again; so manageable and simple in comparison to the 1104.
Thanks again for some interesting material on a yacht remembered very fondly. Doug Johns"
Doug gave me permission to post his e-mail contents and I hope you enjoy reading it.

Good to hear that you got to sail on Nereus as I now own her needs a bit of a clean up but seems to sail well this is the first keel boat I have owned or sailed so is a bit new. Just wondering if the boat in the first photo of Woodstock is my boat as the sail #681 is the same i believe the boat was also named Waiting Room and also Love Machine when at Sandy YC any info is greatly appreciated
