Hi All,
My old KO 10 mast section has given up and I need to replace it.
Is the fractional rig faster and could I get a way with a modified Etchell rig?
I was wondering if Doug could tell me anything about my boat. Nearly Midnight sail No: 2359
Any help much appreciated.
Anthony ;D

Doug Sharpin wrote to me about the old rig of Mystique (keel stepped that broke into three pieces, now replaced by a lower masthead rig)....
...So it was rerigged as a fractional mast probably with a Bob Keeley KO"D" (Dragon section)....its more a racing rig drawn up by Ron Holland after talking to John Bertrand (John had his North sail-loft next door at Mordy and set up a few boats for me) Sometimes difficult to stop an "S" bend sideways and critical to caps and lowers tensions but can bend aft up to an amazing 18" to flatten sail - John could carry full main in 30 knots like this. (I could n't tho)......
May be worth contacting John Bertrand or Doug Sharpin for more details.
Best of luck

Doug Sharpin Wrote: Hi Colin....thought you may be interested in some other peoples thinking ...Anthony has an H25 "Nearly Midnight" and wants to go faster & after breaking his Sheerline masthead rig is changing to a bigger fractional rig - ideal for calm sea Lake conditions You may like to put it on your Blog or is it poss to add, say, a section on just my info to be added to over time. I seem to be getting quite involved in the register and owners these days and enjoying the "reminissing" and passing on all the stories.
