The toerails came from a Company in Huntingdale called Briggs Marine, now Adcast.
H25 shoal draft 3"6" and H25 deep keeler at 5'..........both displacements were 3,500 lbs or 1590kg
The "+4" was a requirement of Mandalay Charters for full headroom as was the lowered bridge deck 12" lower for easy access - would seem to suit you better too - just diamond saw the bridgedeck out, cut the bottom off and re-fibreglass the moulded nonskid bit in place down lower -easy, did it a few times. then needs another stormboard and slides to fill back up to deck level so existing stormboard fits on top. Traveller was then mounted 12"down and shorter but sheet angle the same, it would probably suit you to have end-boom sheeting with traveller on aft deck or rather than a traveller - most US production yachts used just a deck block each side (sheet angle still same - just a bit of fine adjustment missing)
Ron was aghast at shaol draft but under sufference designed the longer shallower keel of same weight - also he objected to raising the deck and extra weight in all the charter gear, big Volvo, refrigeration, full accom,2 big batteries, anchor wells for and aft etc. Originally the "Eygthene" that won the Worlds had a little Vire engine as did some 50 other H25.
ciao for now ...........Doug Sharpin

Its Saturday again and have been working on the H25 register of all boats built.....I had 4 big arch files of client and can only now find three ! But I have found your original boats file.....havn't got the actual launching date but a final payment was made 12/12/1977 and launched at Hastings and sailed across Bass Straight in 38 hours to Launcetson. Two mid blue stripes to top half of topsides - I have some photos somewhere......name "Zingaro" The storm that caused the damage to the rear port topsides - she came adrift from her mooring in a storm in the Tamar River and was badly damaged rubbing against a pier with big bolts sticking out, must have been early August 1978. Insurance Company paid me to go over on the "Empress", tow the hull back to the yard at Mordialloc, strip all the items to replace on a new hull, reinstall the Volvo etc. and sail also back across the Straight in 33 hours!. Your hull (later Mystique) sat on the trailer in our yard for 6 mths or so till a boatbuilder, bought it. ... so yes, any repair work was well done professionally which is the reason I was only interested in selling to another boatbuilder so it would be done correctly or otherwise reflect on our good name. Found a newsletter and boat test you may like to add to your blog or H25 site - have some original sales brochures, but a lot of blue background but will now try to scan them for you. Ciao for now.........Doug Sharpin SAILING Magazine, September 1978 www.coolmobility.com.au/Yacht/SAILING%20sept%201978%20.pdf

Further to my history of "Mistique" (a very apt name now I think of it !).....found another listing for your boat sail No. S48
So it was rerigged as a fractional mast probably with a Bob Keeley KO"D" (Dragon section)....its more a racing rig drawn up by Ron Holland after talking to John Bertrand (John had his North sail-loft next door at Mordy and set up a few boats for me) Sometimes difficult to stop an "S" bend sideways and critical to caps and lowers tensions but can bend aft up to an amazing 18" to flatten sail - John could carry full main in 30 knots like this. (I could n't tho)
Is your mast keel or deck stepped ? (Mystique is keel stepped - Colin)

Hi Colin .you may like to add where the name "Eygthene" came from but Ron had a very broad Kiwi accent almost to a lisp and the 1/4 ton rating max was Eighteen feet - Rons pronunciation of 18 was "heard"as Eygthene" ! bit of trivia for you ciao Doug
