Hi,
I am new to this forum and after a long search have found a reasonable looking Holland 30 at a great price. I am doing the usual pre-purchase inspections, surveys and checks prior to committing but I am finding it almost impossible to find anything online about this make? I apologize because clearly this is a forum 25's but I am finding it hard to get any information on this boat? Does anyone have one or any advice about where I can find an owners group or forum for owners? There is a post on this site but the link is DOA.
The boat looks like a Holland ½ tonner (same as a Nicholson 30?). I wrote to Hollands and was told that it looked like a Holland 30 footer design made by Doug Sharpen in Melbourne circa early 1980's but they could not provide any other information. It sort of looks a little like a Nic 30 but only slightly.
Used 1982 HOLLAND 30 Boat For Sale - boatpoint.com.au
Would appreciate any help you could give me in learning a bit more about this boat, if Sharpen is still around (and contact details) and if there is a group for Holland 30 owners. Many thanks in anticipation of your help!
Angus

Hi Angus Looks good to me for money if motor runs OK. Not many Holland 30 Half Tonners were built, so have passed on your question to Doug Sharpin who may be able to assist in info. Also Holland 30 Yacht Owners Website May 13, 2009 Martyn Riddle has created a Website for Holland 30 owners to create a register and possibly an owners club. Contact Martyn by e-mail at email martyn.riddle@vecommerce.com.au who had created a website but it has gone. A Holland 30, Screw Loose, won the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in 1979. Best of luck. Also check out YouTube MiniYachts have a buch of Holland 30 video racing - perhaps Argentina from sail ID Look for "MARIA LUISA" vids. They have running backstays, so consider that too when buying. Boat you're considering probably has discarded them from look of stern area.

Hi Angus.............Doug Sharpin here and yes its one of my Holland 30 Cruiser deck version and one hell of a steal deal at $16k grab it quick as usually sell $30k ++++ as you can see by "Scandal" also in Sydney for $38k last time I saw it. The Holland 25's sell for this price ! Engine looks a bit neglected but probably only a bit of external rust assuming it is running OK - couple of hours wire brush and new spraycan of Volvo green you'd make it look new again. Interior looks neat, clean and well looked after so usually it follows the engine is good too. Can't read the name so can't place it - can you find original name and owners name ? We built them to Ron Hollands specs and proved to be good in ocean - Screw Loose" winner 1979 Hobart Race and other passages. Give me a ring if you need any info on 0417482707 or 02 4385 7340 (Terrigal) Got yourself a great deal there I reckon regards and good luck Doug Sharpin (dsharpin@optusnet.com.au)
