Hi Does anyone have access to the Holland 25 rudder design drawings, or specifications?
I hit a sandbar last week and about 1/2 hr after getting off, the rudder just fell off at the tiller arm- the bolt holding the tiller arm to the rudder stock had sheared through and the rudder and stock just fell to the bottom. I now just have a metal tube in place.
I bought the boat about 3 months ago. The remains of the SS bolt holding the tiller to the rudder stock was very worn and I doubt it was installed properly with teh weight of the rudder hanging off this bolt?
In previous boats I have owned/worked on, there os a thrust plate, bearing/washer assembly at the top of the rudder stock and a nylon/plastic bushing inside the rudder stock well. None of that seems to have been in place on this boat?
I got a tow off a passing powerboat to my mooring and the next day went back and snorkelled for the rudder but couldn't find it, so am planning to build a new one...
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers, Mark
